Messy Church – Fill A Bucket

In her book, “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” Carol McCloud invites us to imagine that we all carry around buckets. When people are kind or when someone encourages us, our buckets are filled. If we are mean to someone, we deplete their buckets. This great children’s book is a good way to talk about the “Golden Rule” in Matthew 7:12 – “Treat others as you’d like to be treated.”
This Messy Church session combines the story book and activities around kindness and service to explore Jesus’ instructions on how to treat others.
Help Us Fill a Bucket!

As we prepare for our February Messy Church Celebration on February 8, from 4:00–5:30 PM, we invite you to help us make this experience extra meaningful by donating boxes of cereal (please, no Cheerios).
Our theme is FILL A BUCKET! During our celebration, we will explore how loving God and loving one another — especially our neighbors — can set off a beautiful chain of kindness in our community. The cereal boxes will be used during our story and celebration time to help illustrate how filling someone else’s bucket fills our own as well.
After our celebration, all donated cereal will be given to Faith in Action, helping support families in our wider community. Donations can be dropped off in the church lobby through February 8.
Help us make this chain of kindness extra special — one box at a time. Thank you for being part of this joyful act of love!
