A Little Shopping, a Lot of Christmas Joy

There’s something special about choosing a gift, wrapping it, and keeping it a surprise until Christmas. At the 18th Annual Material Girls Children’s Christmas Bazaar, children get to do just that while discovering that a thoughtful gift doesn’t have to cost much.

Chelsea First United Methodist Church will host the bazaar during Hometown Holidays on Saturday, December 5, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Handcrafted gifts from the Material Girls and local artisans cost $1–$5, and all profits go to Faith in Action to support local families.

Have a young shopper? Children age 4 through sixth grade can reserve a 30-minute shopping appointment. Parents and caregivers fill out a shopping envelope with a gift list and budget, then Youth Buddies guide children through choosing, wrapping, and paying for their gifts. Only Youth Buddies accompany children into the shopping rooms at Saturday’s bazaar. Cash or checks only.

Want to be a Youth Buddy? Volunteers in sixth grade and older help younger shoppers find and wrap gifts. First-time buddies are especially welcome, and friends can each sign up to help. Please choose one shift for now so more youth have a chance to volunteer. Buddies may shop before or after their shift.
