CONNECT Children's Ministry

Faith begins in wonder.

CONNECT Children’s Ministry

Imagine a world where children don’t just learn about faith—but are invited to experience it with awe, joy, and curiosity. That’s the heart of Lifelong Faith Formation—starting from childhood and growing with us across every stage of life.

Each Sunday at 9:15 a.m., CONNECT—our Children’s Ministry program—nurtures faith from the very beginning. Through our “Follow Jesus” curriculum, children explore the life and teachings of Jesus in ways that spark curiosity, joy, and a sense of wonder. More than just stories or lessons, “Follow Jesus” encourages children to:

  • See the divine in everyday moments
  • Ask big questions
  • Discover their own unique path with Jesus
  • Grow in love and light, just as they are

Wonder isn’t something we grow out of—it’s something we carry with us. And at Chelsea First UMC, we believe faith formation begins in wonder—and never ends.

Faith is about transformation, not just information. Inspired by a philosophy of deep connection and heartfelt engagement, “Follow Jesus” supports children as active participants in their own spiritual lives. Through dynamic storytelling, hands-on activities, and sacred conversations, they experience a faith that is alive, curious, and joy-filled.

On the first Sunday of each month, we remain together in worship as a full church family, celebrating Communion with our children participating in the entire service—a reminder that faith is shared across all generations.

Tell Me Something Good: Lenten Resources for Families

Lent is a season of slowing down, paying attention, and making room for what matters most. As our church journeys through Tell Me Something Good, we are practicing how to notice and name God’s goodness — even in ordinary, everyday moments.

This year, we invite families to continue that practice at home with Making Room at Home for Jesus, a simple, meaningful Lenten guide designed just for children and caregivers.

Each week, your family will:

  • Read a short devotion together
  • Reflect on wondering questions
  • Add a new piece to a paper “house” — a door, a table, a bed, a window, a heart — symbolizing the ways we make room for Jesus in our lives

Through small, intentional moments — gathering at the table, resting when we are weary, shining kindness, remembering love when life feels hard — children learn to recognize the good news of God’s presence right where they are.

There is no “perfect” way to do this. Just a willingness to make room.

We pray this resource helps your family look at one another and say, “Tell me something good,” and discover that Jesus is already at work in your home.
