Read Aloud Volunteer – Flint Freedom Schools Collaborative

Every Freedom School day kicks off with a Read Aloud component. YOU can be a Read Aloud volunteer! It is a fun and heart-warming experience, well worth the early morning drive to get there by 8:15 am.

FFSC has recently learned that the Flint Community School District has approved support for the addition of a new Freedom School site for Summer 2025. The new location will serve 100 Scholars in grades K-5 and be housed in a public school building. This almost doubles the 110 kids served at 3 UMC church locations. What a tremendous affirmation of the work of FFSC! The new site will be staffed by employees of the public schools, but the curriculum and approach will follow the Freedom School model.
