Monday Night Study Group

The Gospel of Matthew portrays Jesus and his message as full of tender compassion and urgent warning. We will be using the Bible book of Matthew along with the book Matthew: The Gospel of Promised Blessings by Matthew L. Skinner. Together we will explore this enigmatic Gospel, learning more about the themes, topics, and tensions at the heart of Matthew’s story about the life and work of Jesus. The chapters focus on blessing and comfort, judgment and retribution, the meaning of discipleship, Jesus’ vision for the Church and world, conflicts and complaints, and how the Gospel of Matthew speaks to believers today.

The class will be offered Monday evenings, 6:30-8 pm, January 13-February 24. It is offered as a “hybrid” experience, with participants joining by Zoom and in-person. Class facilitators are Dawn Goellner, Max Plank and Joy Barrett.
