SUMMARY:Thursday Afternoon bible Study
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a place to grow in your faith\, ask meaningful questions\, and connect with others? You’re invited to join us for Thursday Afternoon Bible Study\, beginning September 10. \nOur first study of the season will be Half Truths: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn’t Say by Adam Hamilton. \nWe’ve all heard familiar sayings like “Everything happens for a reason” or “God helps those who help themselves.” They may sound biblical—but are they? In Half Truths\, Adam Hamilton takes a thoughtful and engaging look at several common phrases\, exploring the truth they contain\, where they can lead us astray\, and what Scripture actually teaches. \nWhether you’ve participated in Bible studies for years or are simply curious and looking for a place to begin\, you are welcome. Come as you are\, bring your questions\, and join the conversation. \nThursday Afternoon Bible Study\nSeptember 10–October 15\n1:00–2:30 p.m.\nRoom 207 \nNo registration is needed. \nThe book is available through Amazon for approximately $9.89 or may be ordered through your local bookstore. \nFor more information\, contact Linda Mahan at 734-478-6894. \nWe hope you’ll join us as we discover together how moving beyond easy answers and familiar sayings can lead us toward a deeper\, more thoughtful faith.

SUMMARY:The MomCo of Chelsea
DESCRIPTION:It is no secret that mothers have a tremendous impact on families. The MomCo believes that better moms make a better world\, and we believe the MomCo makes moms better. The MomCo of Chelsea is building circles of women who love each other like family and provide opportunities for moms to grow in their faith. At a typical meetup\, moms will find discussion that gives them practical parenting information\, friendship\, a hot cup of coffee and a delicious breakfast. Even more importantly\, you will be connected to other mothers who are in a similar stage of life as you. MomCo International says : The MomCo (short for Mom Community) — where we mobilize moms all over the world to build life-changing community. We’re convinced that moms are some of the most powerful creatures on the planet. What is the word people use to define powerful things? It is ‘the mother’… the mother of all storms\, the mother of all traffic\, the mother lode. To be a mother is to be a force of nature\, but that doesn’t mean it should be done alone. We saved you a seat. \nThe Mom Co of Chelsea

SUMMARY:Monday Night Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:Join us this fall for a six-week Monday Night Bible Study featuring Simon Peter: Flawed But Faithful Disciple by Adam Hamilton. \nPeter was one of Jesus’ closest disciples\, yet his story is filled with both courage and mistakes\, faith and fear\, loyalty and failure. Through Peter’s journey\, we’re reminded that God doesn’t call perfect people—God works through ordinary\, imperfect people who are willing to follow. \nTogether\, we’ll explore Peter’s life\, his relationship with Jesus\, and what his story can teach us about grace\, discipleship\, perseverance\, and faith. \nThe study runs September 21 through October 26. \nAll are welcome\, whether you’re a longtime Bible study participant or joining a group for the first time. Come with your questions\, your experiences\, and an open heart as we learn together what it means to be faithful—even when we don’t get everything right.

SUMMARY:With One Voice: Community Choir Concert
DESCRIPTION:With One Voice: Community Choir Concert on September 27\nThe music continues! \nFollowing the meaningful response to the recent One Voice Concert\, the community choir will once again share this beautiful music with the wider community. Chelsea Community Chorus presents “With One Voice” at the Chelsea Retirement Community Chapel Service on Sunday\, September 27 at 3:00 pm. \nThis concert is a wonderful opportunity to gather\, listen\, worship\, and be reminded of the power of music to bring people together. When voices join in song\, something sacred happens. We are reminded that we are not alone\, that our stories are connected\, and that God can use music to speak hope\, peace\, and joy into our lives. \nWe are grateful for the singers\, musicians\, organizers\, and all who continue to make these moments possible. We are also grateful for everyone who helps extend the invitation. As we saw with the recent One Voice Concert\, people show up when others personally invite them\, share the word\, and say\, “You are welcome here.” \nSo consider this your invitation — and an invitation to invite someone else. Bring a friend\, neighbor\, or family member and come experience an afternoon of music\, community\, and connection. \nChelsea Community Chorus presents “With One Voice”\nSunday\, September 27 at 3:00 pm\nChelsea Retirement Community Chapel Service

SUMMARY:World Communion Sunday: Welcoming Our Neighbors
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, October 4\, Christians around the world will gather at Christ’s table in celebration of World Communion Sunday. At Chelsea First\, we’ll mark this special Sunday with a focus on immigration justice and what our faith calls us to consider about welcoming and loving our neighbors. \nWe are pleased to welcome Rev. Dr. Jill Zundel as our guest preacher at both the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Sanctuary worship services. Rev. Jill is a retired United Methodist elder and currently chairs the Michigan Conference Immigration Justice Task Force. Throughout her ministry\, she has been deeply engaged in ministries of justice\, welcome\, and community. \nAs part of the morning\, you’ll also have an opportunity to learn more about the immigration process in the United States. An interactive display will feature sample questions from the U.S. civics test required as part of the naturalization process. Stop by and see how many you can answer! \nYard signs proclaiming “We stand for ALL our neighbors” will also be available for purchase\, with proceeds supporting assistance for immigrants in our area. \nWorld Communion Sunday reminds us that Christ’s table reaches far beyond the walls of any one congregation\, community\, or nation. We hope you’ll join us for this meaningful day of worship\, reflection\, and communion.

SUMMARY:Souper Sunday Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:Souper Sunday: Jesus Was a Migrant\nSunday\, October 4 | 5:00 p.m. | Grams Hall \nOur Souper Sunday Speaker Series returns this fall with an evening of film\, conversation\, food\, and fellowship. \nWe’ll begin with a screening of Jesus Was a Migrant\, a short documentary executive-produced by historian and author Dr. Jemar Tisby. The film travels to the U.S.-Mexico border and invites viewers to consider questions about migration\, asylum\, and what Christian faith asks of us in responding to our neighbors. \nFollowing the film\, we’ll have an opportunity for open discussion before gathering around tables for a shared meal and facilitated small-group conversation. \nSouper Sundays are designed to create space for learning\, thoughtful conversation\, and connection—even when the subjects we explore are complex. You don’t need to come with all the answers. Come ready to listen\, learn\, share a meal\, and get to know others around the table. \nA freewill offering will be received to help offset the cost of screening the film. \nAll are welcome.

SUMMARY:Soup-er Sunday Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:Leaving Home\, Seeking Hope: Understanding Why People Migrate \nWhat would it take for you to leave your home\, your community\, and everything familiar in search of a better future? \nThis November\, our Soup-er Supper Speaker Series welcomes Mary Anne Perrone (WCS) to help us explore the stories behind migration. Drawing on her work in Honduras\, Mary Anne will share personal stories and insights into the root causes that compel people to leave their homelands—and how our lives are connected to theirs. \nThrough learning\, conversation\, and a shared meal\, we’ll consider how our faith calls us to respond with greater understanding\, compassion\, and love for our neighbors.
